Gifts to Send Them Off to College

Leaving home for College can be exciting and scary all at the same time.  If you’ve just sent your baby to college and Nashville is home, consider sending a care package that will remind them of home and let them know how much you love and miss them already.  Or if your college student is in Nashville for school now, send something locally so they can get a taste of their new home.

There’s nothing better for a college student than receiving a gift in the mail to enjoy and maybe even share with new friends or roommates.

Here are a few gifts we think would be perfect for them:

Taste of Nashville

Taste of Nashville

A small basket of sweets from Nashville makes an easy heartfelt gift that won’t involve you having to spend time baking homemade cookies, finding a container, and shipping them on your own.

Send something simple they’ll use every day to jot down reminders like “Call Mom” and “Make Travel Plans to Go Home for Christmas”.

Weather your child is one or twenty-one, they’re still one of the most important people in your life.  Every gift we send comes with a complementary handwritten note from you.  Let us help you make reminding them how much you care as easy as pie by choosing a gift we can ship for you.

Administrative Professionals Day Gift Guide

Administrative Professionals Day recognizes the year-round, hard-working secretaries, administrative assistants, and other office professionals in your life that keep things running smoothly.  This year, the date falls on Wednesday, April 27th.

Let’s face it, the person that you would celebrate is probably the one that normally orders gifts on your behalf when you need to send something to a client or colleague, but this is your opportunity to treat them to a little something and let them know how much they are appreciated.

May we suggest a gift filled with local, Nashville-made goodies?  Here are a few of our favorites:

Let them know how sweet they are with a sweet taste of Nashville!

Gift them with a box of chocolate!

Pamper her with something Just for Her.

Every gift comes with a personalized note from you that we hand-write and is elegantly gift wrapped, never at any extra charge.

And from us, to all the amazing Administrative Assistants, thank you for what you do!

15 Seconds of Fame on The Today Show

They say everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame.  Well, we didn't have 15 minutes, but we did get about 15 seconds on national television and it was so much fun!

Just a few days prior to Thanksgiving 2015, we were contacted by a correspondent for The Today Show on NBC.  She was reaching out to see if we would be willing to send a couple of our signature Bourbon Bundle gift baskets to Rockefeller Center so we could be featured in a gift segment on NBC the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  Our answer? Uh, yeesss!

So we frantically packaged up gifts, tied each ribbon to perfection, and sent them off to New York City just in time for our very first television debut.

Then we set our alarms to get up early on a Saturday morning.  You never know what will happen on live television, so we were still holding our breathe that this was really going to happen.  With a large cup of coffee in hand, we anxiously waited to see if we made the cut.

And then it happened!  Before we even got to see it air, we were getting flooded with orders into our inbox.  Nashville is one hour behind the east coast, so it aired before we could see it.  And people must have liked what they saw!  In the first 20 minutes after it aired Eastern Standard Time, we had already exceeded our expectations for orders.  Then it aired in Central time, Mountain time, and Pacific time.  Everyone in the country that was up on a Saturday morning tuned into NBC saw us and so many of you came to our website to get a Bourbon Bundle for yourself or someone special.

So, we had our work cut out for us and so did our local artisan suppliers!  Just weeks before Christmas, we got to work filling orders as fast as we could get them out the door. It turns out that Americans love their Bourbon and they know something good when they see it.

It was a fun experience and we're not sure what can top that, but we're ready for our next television spotlight!

Nashville Made: Soberdough Brew Bread

Nashville Made Soberdough

If you ever wanted to be Martha Stewart or Betty Crocker, but you don’t actually know how to cook, or if you’re a bachelor trying to impress the ladies, Soberdough is going to make all of your dreams come true!  Okay….maybe not all of them, but you’re going to love how easy and fun they’ve made homemade bread.

In our search for great Nashville made gifts, we recently came across Soberdough bread mixes and knew we just had to try it for ourselves.  After all, we wouldn’t want you to get or give a gift that has sub-par products.  We’re committed to bringing you only the very best!  Seriously.  No “filler” products.  Just genuinely awesome stuff.

Soberdough carries a host of different flavors like Roasted Garlic, Cinnful Raisin, and Buffalovin Wing, but we were dying to try the Green Chile Cheddar mix.  So we procured a bag, checked the fridge for beer, and got started right away!

Nashville Made Soberdough In The Making

Step 1:  Procure Soberdough bread mix and pour into a large bowl.

Step 2: Pull out a bottle of beer (or carbonated water) from your refrigerator & pour it into the same large bowl.

Step 3: Pour 1 cup of cheddar cheese into your bowl and mix everything together!

Step 4: Bake in a 9x5 bread pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Step 5: Let cool, slice & enjoy!

Nashville Made Soberdough

It’s really that simple and it turned out to be delicious!  Moist, flavorful, and downright yummy!  We paired ours with a bowl of hot chili while watching some SEC football.  Fall just doesn’t get much better than this!

Soberdough is not just easy and delicious, but it’s made right here in Nashville with all natural ingredients.  Created by a mother-son team, Soberdough is everything we love about the creative community in Nashville.  Find out more about their story here.

If you’ve tried Soberdough too, tell us which flavor is your favorite.

As for us, we’ll be keeping a bag or two in our own pantry and keeping the shelves of High Note filled with Soberdough so we can bring it to you via our Nashville gift collection!

It City.

NASHVILLESKYLINE

We fell in love with Nashville before it was the “it” city of the South.  Don’t get us wrong - we swoon over celebrity chefs bringing their flare to the Nashville food scene just as much as the next foodie, but that’s just icing on the cake!  What we love most about Nashville are the people.

I know, I know….you’re thinking “how cliché!”.   But it’s true.

For the most part, Nashvillians are genuinely friendly, creative, and supportive.  It makes Nashville the place we are proud to call our home.  In fact, if you ask us about how much we like Nashville, you’ll find it’s hard to get us to stop gushing!

We love being a part of this city and we love getting to see and experience all of the amazing contributions people have brought to Nashville that make it what it is today.

Our favorite things to do and our favorite foods to eat just so happen to be centered around local small businesses based right here in Music City.  Businesses that have grown through a whole lot of work, determination, and a lot of local love!

We wanted to contribute something back to our community that supports the amazing work these artisans are doing.  We couldn’t think of a better way than to bundle them together in beautifully packed gift crates for you, for your family, your friends, employees, and clients.

At High Note Gifts, we’re getting to share the things that we love and it doesn’t get much better than that.

I should mention that we’re also pretty obsessed with music, chocolate (but who isn’t?), encouraging other entrepreneurs, good food, new adventures, finding the perfect gift, serving our community, and spending quality time with family and friends.

We’ve got a lot of amazing things to introduce you to and we can’t wait to share them with you here.  Feel free to post comments or reach out to us directly with questions, comments, suggestions……or if you simply want to chat about food, music, Nashville, or whatever else makes your heart happy!

In a day and age where it seems like there is never enough time and always more to do, we’re honored that you would read our blog and we hope to hear from you soon!
